Osteopathic Treatment Approach at Associated Medical Clinic (AMC)

Muscle pain and aching joints are tiring and painful and can be debilitating. While painkillers can provide temporary relief, seeing an osteopath can assist in treating the source of your muscle and joint pain and may help to prevent future flare-ups.

At Associated Medical Clinic (AMC) on the Gold Coast, we use various osteopathic and soft tissue methods aiming to help treat bio-mechanical joint and muscular pain and improve movement. If you’re tired of dealing with stiff, sore joints and painful muscles, such as back pain, come and see how we can help you.

Our Methods

When patients come to AMC seeking relief from their painful muscle and joint conditions, they don’t just want a stronger dose of painkillers to hide the complaint; they want to treat the cause of their pain in order to prevent further problems. Dr. Raymond Lewis, our Principal Osteopath, and his team use the following methods which aim to help patients get back on track, relieve their muscle and joint pain and which may help prevent future recurrences:

  • Stretching. Stretches help warm up muscles and joints and may improve circulation, which leads to easier movement and flexibility.
  • Releasing and functional techniques. These hands-on techniques aim to help restore structure and function to a state of balance.
  • Rhythmic joint movements. Gentle joint mobilisation and articulation uses rhythmic joint movements may help stimulate circulation.
  • Soft tissue manipulation. Massage and other soft tissue techniques, such as myofascial release, may help to reduce tension within soft tissue structures such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia and to improve blood flow.
  • Ultrasound and/or laser therapy. Ultrasound therapy and laser therapy may help stimulate the cells in an injured or inflamed area of the body, allowing them to repair themselves naturally, reducing your pain.
  • TheraWave TM Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT):  Most suitable for pain reduction and improved speed of recovery from chronic tendinopathies.

We also offer advice on strengthening and stretching exercises, posture, lifting techniques and other lifestyle recommendations as necessary to assist in the patient’s recovery and wellness journey.
